There are many types of coffee maker machines available. Even though the machines come with different features and prices, they have one thing in common – to brew coffee.

The most common and recognizable coffee maker is the filter machine. These are known as drip coffee makers. The filters that these coffee makers use are either in a basket or cone shape.

They can be made from either a metal mesh or paper. These makers require water which machine will heat and drip onto the coffee grounds. Then the hot liquid goes to the filter and drips down into the coffee pot.

At the base of a filter machine, is a plate that becomes heated when plugged in and is heated plate will keep the coffee pot. You can find filter machines that serve single cups and models that can serve up to 20 cups or more.

For single cup coffee drinkers the pod machine is gaining in popularity. These coffee makers contain capsules or pods that are filled with coffee grounds.

The only thing you have to do is place the pod inside the machine and the water will flow through the pod into the pot. These are also ideal for households to where coffee drinkers have different preferences in coffee.

Everyone can enjoy his or her own special blend of coffee with the pod machine.

Then there is the bean cup coffee maker. The bean cup is comprised of three different parts, which include the chamber, bean hopper and grinder. For these, you place the beans into the grinder and the maker will brew the grinds inside of the chamber.

Then, the coffee flows out into the dispenser. Cleanup for this type of machine is generally low maintenance because the used coffee grounds fall into a grounds tray. You can leave them there and empty the tray when needed.

The percolator is a manual coffee maker to where water is placed on the bottom of the chamber and the grounds are placed on the top. Depending on the model, to heat the water you can either place it on the stove or plug it into an electrical outlet.

As the water begins to boil, steam flows through the filter, which brews the coffee grounds. This process condenses the grounds at the top of the chamber to drip into the bottom chamber to make coffee.

Another type of coffee maker is to French press. This style of coffee machine is very simple to use. The French press comes with a glass carafe to where you will place the coffee grounds and then you pour hot boiling water over the grounds.

The French press coffee maker comes with a plunger that has a filter on the top and when you press down on the plunger, it will push the coffee grounds down and keep them contained at the bottom of the carafe.

Finally, there is espresso machine. Some espresso machines use a pump, while others will use a lever or piston. Regardless of the type of espresso machine, they all work to force hot water into coffee grounds, which then dispenses espresso into the cup.
